Since holidaying in Central Australia in 2011 I have been interested in spending more time walking and exploring the Larapinta Trail. On becoming aware of the Trek to Tackle Poverty and the opportunity to support work Oxfam does to change lives and communities I decided it was time to commit to the challenge of both the trek and fundraising. Through the fundraising I am hoping to bring awareness of poverty that impacts the communities in our country and in particular the impact upon Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders.

Supporting: Trek to Tackle Poverty Larapinta

Trek through one of the world's largest outdoor museums in Australia's Red Centre, tackling poverty with Oxfam.   Spend seven days on an immersive trek in the rugged beauty of the West MacDonnell Ranges, trekking sections of the Larapinta Trail, one of the most popular wilderness walks in Australia.  The rugged rocky outcrops form a striking backdrop to scenic paths that cut a swath through scenic gorges and expansive plains.  We have chosen walks along the best sections of the trail.  A highlight is a challenging but rewarding climb up to the top of Rwetyepme (Mount Sonder - 1380m), where we enjoy fantastic panoramic views of the surrounding mountains, plans, valleys and salt lakes.  Oxfam challenge events are more than an adventure; they are a once-in-a-lifetime chance to create change - in the world and in yourself. You and Oxfam, tackling poverty together.
